Independent

We believe in the autonomy of the local church free of any external authority or control. We are independent of any denominational body that would seek to control our local New Testament Church. We believe the biblical pattern for the church was a local and independent church, of which Christ is the head, and the Holy Spirit leads through the principles and patterns of the Scriptures. Join us as we, as an independent congregation, seek to follow God’s Word in all matters of faith and practice
Colossians 1:3, 18 “We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you…And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”

 Fundamental

Today, it seems anytime someone is referred to as being fundamental that it is seen in a negative light, as if they are some kind of fanatic. What do we mean when we say we are fundamental? We as a church hold to the fundamentals of the Word of God. We believe the bible should be followed in all matters of faith and practice. In other words, the bible has the final say in all matters not the opinion of man or some denominational authority.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”

B—Bible authority in all matters of faith and practice

  • The church does not exercise visions, revelations, tongues, or extra biblical “message from God.” We uphold the truths of the Bible as our supreme authority in the church. (Acts 17:11; II Tim. 3:16-17; Heb. 4:12; II Peter  1:21)

A—Autonomy or self-governing power of the local church

  • We are completely independent from other churches, boards, or denominations. Christ is the head of our church. (II Timothy 3:15, Acts 20:19-30)

P—Priesthood (direct access to God) of each believer

  • Every believer has equal and instant access to God. This means that each believer is his own priest and has direct access to God’s truth and God’s will for his life through prayer and the Word of God.(Heb. 4:14-16)

T—Two offices within the Church

  • The church has two offices of leadership—pastors, and deacons. Scripture refers to the office of pastor with terms such as elder, bishop, and pastor. It is the responsibility of the pastor to serve the church by leading, teaching, and overseeing the church work. It is the responsibility of the deacons to serve the church family through assisting with care and provision of special needs. (Acts 6:1-7; I Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:6-9; I Peter 5:1-4)

I—Individual soul liberty

  • Every man and woman must choose personally to come to Christ for salvation. No one (including pastors, priest, etc.) can intervene or make the decision for them. (Romans 14:1-8, 12-23)

S—Separation of church and state

  • The state should have no power to intervene in the free expression of religious liberty. (Acts 5:29-31; Romans 13:1-4)

T—Two ordinances

  • The church practices two simple ordinances—baptism and the Lord’s Table (communion). These ordinances have no part in salvation and only serve as pictures of what Christ did for us on the Cross. (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 2:38-43; Acts 8:36-38; Romans 6:1-6; I Cor. 11:23-24)

S—Saved membership only

  • We do not place infants on our membership list. Each member, regardless of age, must give a testimony of salvation. (a conversion experience).

Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as washing the church vehicles, to preparing the church bulletins.

Mission Outreach

Charity Baptist is thrilled to be part of the spreading of the Gospel around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers.  We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.

Sunday School and Bible Class Ministries

Our church has a deep desire to bring people to a better understanding of the Word of God and thus a better understanding of the Lord. Each week volunteers from our church teach bible class for all ages, from the nursery to the senior adult there is a small group bible study for everyone.

Transportation Ministry

Our church has a burden to reach people. Each Wednesday evening and Sunday morning volunteers from our church take two buses, a shuttle and a van out into our community to bring people to church who otherwise could not make it.

Marriage Counseling

Marriages can be difficult to maintain. Misunderstanding, confusion, resentment, and anger can flare up in any marriage. Our pastor serves other families as a marriage counselor. One of his roles is listening, understanding, helping, and encouraging struggling couples, who by God’s grace, see marriages saved, and relationships repaired. Couples have found fresh hope and new joy in a warm and fulfilling relationship with their spouse.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Throughout the week, our church members take time out of their day to pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs. Each Wednesday, the church comes together for a special time of prayer and Bible study.
